I'm not perfect and neither is this picture

This week I have been engrossed with expanding my blog subscriptions across the web. I stumble on a fabulous site and one leads to another in my reading and so on. I came across a few women talking about the Perfect Protest in honor of Brene Brown's new book, The Gifts of Imperfection: Let Go of Who You Think You're Supposed to Be and Embrace Who You Are. Instead of trying to describe the movement I will just direct you to Brene's site as she really says it best.

I struggle with perfectionism in so many things as I am sure most of the world does. Learning to embrace who I am and celebrate my imperfections is something I am working on, one day at a time.

  3. [...] This week after my first pilates class, one of the ladies in class came up to me and said: “Well at least you will never have to take your first class again.” She was right. I completed the biggest hurdle by getting out there in class for the first time. The same thing can be said for my jewelry making. I never have to make my first tile pendant again. I learn very much by hands on exploration and that is just what I did. I found an excellent tutorial with pictures on Makeandtake.com. After that it was as easy as following directions. I selected some scrap paper from my massive scrapbooking collection for my trial piece. I felt the paper by itself was too perfect and wanted it to look slightly aged so I took a sanding block and distressed it a bit to wear down the top and edges some. I also used a sponge and dabbed brown ink over the entire paper to further add to the aged feel. These are two very easy steps to do to completely change the look and feel of any paper project. After sealing it with Diamond Glaze and letting it set for a few days I was able to attach the bail today with E-6000. It came out crooked but hey, I’m not perfect, remember? [...]
