I had the pleasure of working with Tamara from Tamara Kenyon Photography last month to shoot a Boudoir session as a birthday/Valentine's surprise for my husband. Finally today I got to reveal the photos to him, and believe me the anticipation was killing me! I think he was beyond pleased! The photos turned out gorgeous and I felt completely at ease the whole time. This coming from someone who would much rather be behind the camera instead of in front. This is another one of my favorites from the bunch and will be gracing the walls of our bedroom soon. Yes, I am actually quite comfortable linking photos of me in my underwear for the world to see because they are so beautifully and tastefully done. (Sorry Dad!)
All of this reminded me though of how much of a portrait photographer I am NOT. I don't enjoy shooting people and it is something that most definitely does not feel comfortable or second nature to me. It gives me that much more admiration to those who can. There is an art about it and an even bigger learning curve. For that I am grateful to those who have a passion for people and sharing their stories. If you want to see Tamara's behind the scenes commentary check out her blog, http://tkfotoblog.com. She wrote an awesome summary and posted some photos of her setup too.
If this entire experience wasn't enough, as a bonus I am officially checking another item off my Life List! I feel pretty confident in saying that these qualify for a glamorous photo session. Check!
Love the picture. I too have been entertaining the thought of doing a Boudoir shoot for a while now. Mainly for myself although I think I would gift a few shots to the dear hubby too. :-) Way to go and another one gets check off the list. Awesome!
ReplyDeleteThat is flat out beautiful!!! I am sure hubby was more than pleased lol
ReplyDeleteI dislike portrait photography as well, I just don't feel comfortable with it like you said.

ReplyDeleteYes, Tamara is indeed phenomenal photographer. In just a very short time she's been more successful than I have been in thirty years. I'm not just being partial because I'm related to her. I truly envy her. And I envy you, too, Celina! You are brilliant on both sides of the camera and other things you do. :-)
ReplyDeleteBeautiful! I think everyone should have photos of themselves that make them feel this way. She captured your expression perfectly -- as if you only have eyes for one man. Its almost as if you are looking at him here. Just lovely!
ReplyDeleteYou grow more beautiful everyday, on the inside as well as the outside. To see you bloom more and more all the time, makes my heart explode with such joy, pride and love, but I guess that is what Moms do.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful photos there, although the one you posted here is my favourite. I'd say that although you don't love portrait photography, portrait photography loves you! You look so at ease in the above photo too... very cool gift for your husband :)
ReplyDeleteGorgeous pictures and what a fun, brave thing to check off your "life list". I'm sure you had a very happy husband!
ReplyDeleteLove it!! You do look beautiful...
ReplyDeleteBeautiful, beautiful pictures! I admire your courage, Celina. You seem to be really making yourself vulnerable and moving in some interesting directions. Thanks for sharing your journey...its so inspiring!
